Lake Manyara Park

The Lake Manyara National Park has a total area of only 325 sq. km., of which 229 sq. km are the lake. But it contains a wide diversity of habitats: besides the Rift Valley, there is the ground water forest, the acacia woodlands, the open grassland, the swamps and the lake itself, where 300 species have been recorded, the most profuse and lovely being the flamingos.
Due to the big variety of habitats, there is also a big number of different species of animals. Manyara is famous for its concentration of elephants. It is said that the highest density of elephants in Africa is at Lake Manyara National Park. Other animals which may be seen in abundance include hippo, buffalo, giraffe, baboon, wildebeest etc.
