You arrive in Moshi, Tanzania, the starting point for your Mount Kilimanjaro trek. Here, you meet your trekking team and guides, go through a pre-trek briefing, and make final preparations for the journey ahead.
Drive to Umbwe Gate and begin trekking through the rainforest. Reach Umbwe Camp for camping. Hiking time: 4-6 hours. Distance: Approx. 11 km. Terrain: Rainforest.
Continue ascent through forest and moorland. Arrive at Barranco Camp in a valley. Hiking time: 5-7 hours. Distance: Approx. 6 km. Terrain: Moorland.
Ascend Barranco Wall, traverse alpine desert. Arrive at Karanga Camp for the night. Hiking time: 4-5 hours. Distance: Approx. 5 km. Terrain: Alpine desert, rocky areas.
Trek to Barafu Camp, base for summit attempt. Rest and prepare. Hiking time: 3-4 hours. Distance: Approx. 4 km. Terrain: Alpine desert.
Begin summit push around midnight. Reach Uhuru Peak by sunrise. Descend to Mweka Camp. Hiking time (ascent): 6-8 hours. Hiking time (descent): 5-7 hours. Distance (ascent): Approx. 5 km. Distance (descent): Approx. 12 km. Terrain: Glacial and rocky sections.
Descend through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Collect summit certificates. Transfer back to hotel. Hiking time: 3-4 hours. Distance: Approx. 10 km. Terrain: Rainforest.
